A collection of my work as a UI/UX designer.

Good design is making something intelligible and memorable. Great design is making something memorable and meaningful.

— Dieter Rams

Hello, my name is Alex Huang and I’m a designer who loves to make things beautiful, meaningful, and innovative. I specialize in UI, visual, and interactive design. I’ve been in the trenches for the past 8 years, working for both small startups and big-name brands. In recent years, I've had the opportunity to wear many hats, from coder and jquery ninja to project manager and creative lead. I approach every project with a fresh eye, an open mind, and a desire to make it the best that it can be.

Contrary to what most people think, web design is more than just pretty pictures. Web design is story-telling, capturing a mood or a feeling, and communicating thoughts and ideas. It’s a balance between the right colors, typography and layout in order to achieve a sort of harmony that makes both the user and the client happy.

It’s easy to tell the difference between good design and great design. Good design is aesthetically pleasing, but doesn’t compel you to take a certain action, nor does it stick with you long after you leave the page. Great design is well thought out, from the tiny details of a button, to the overarching look and feel. Great design surprises and delights you with each click and scroll and sticks in your head long afterwards. That’s what I strive for in each and every one of my designs.

I currently reside at ROI DNA where I get to work on cool projects everyday. I've had the opportunity to see an agency grow from the ground up and be a part of its evolution, which is a pretty neat experience. In my free time you can find me hiking, snowboarding, gardening, ping ponging, or getting my Black Ops on.
